Sequoias Community College District is seeking an equity-minded candidate to fill a full-time, tenure track position in the Ethnic Studies Department beginning August 2024.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES The successful candidate will be responsible for: Provide face-to-face academic instruction to students through a comparative ethnic studies approach in Introduction to Ethnic Studies and Social Justice Studies courses with the possibility of teaching Ethnic Studies courses in their subfield specialization.
Instructional assignments will include teaching at the Hanford or Tulare centers and/or teaching evenings to increase the accessibility of Ethnic Studies course offerings.
Use varied learning and teaching methods appropriate for community college students.
Assess student performance and progress through various course assignments.
Perform related teaching duties as assigned, including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities related to enrollment, attendance, and student drops.
Refer students to appropriate support services, programs, and/or resources as needed.
Contribute to the development and growth of the Ethnic Studies Department and to the growth of its Associate Degree for Transfer.
Regularly collaborate with Ethnic Studies faculty to assess and revise measurable student performance indicators for collecting and reporting data on Student Learning Outcomes as needed for each course.
Collaborate on department initiatives, program review, program and student learning outcomes development, and assessment to improve student learning.
Satisfy faculty professional responsibilities some options include professional development, trainings, workshops, conferences, serving on District committees, and off campus involvement.
Other responsibilities include maintenance of office hours, participation in department and/or division responsibilities, and the willingness to create and participate in and sustain an atmosphere of equity, which is respectful of diversity Districtwide.
Participation in the governance of the Sequoias Community College District by way of committee assignments is encouraged.

Equivalency documents (If necessary) Two (2) recent letters of recommendation addressing pertinent experience or equivalent competencies.
