Central Valley Meat is looking for a detail-oriented, hard-working Maintenance Lead For The Kill Floor Department.
Summary Support coordinates activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment; and in maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems of industrial plant.
Responsibilities Organizes work for a team of maintenance mechanics and performs maintenance work from job orders assigned by supervisor.
Ensures employees comply with all safety and good Manufacturing Practices.
Communicates to production and quality assurance equipment break downs and estimated time needed to complete repairs.
Audits work of employees on the team to ensure job standards are met.
Conveys all worker grievances to maintenance supervisor.
Conducts meetings at the end of each shift to update incoming maintenance personnel on status of break downs, repairs, and troubleshooting done during the previous shift.
Observes and listens to sounds of mechanical devices in operation to locate any signs of trouble.
Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
Repairs or replaces defective parts.
Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
Lubricates and cleans parts, equipment, and machinery.
Tests and adjusts equipment to meet performance specifications.
Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, saws, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
Sharpens and reshapes tools as necessary.
Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
Repairs electrical equipment.
Operates Boilers and Chemical Treatment.
Maintains a flexible schedule to accommodate variable shifts depending on maintenance workload.
Participates and trains with the HazMat team.
Qualifications One year certificate from college or technical school; or tow years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A percentage of maintenance staff will be required to have a Class 2B Boiler License Special Training/Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to operate a variety of hand tools to include the following: welding machines, cutting torches, and power tools including but not limited to: pipe or tube cutters, power drills, power saws, pullers, wrenches, screw drivers, sockets, ratchets, grinders, pry bars, hammers, punches, measuring devices, and chisels.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Food plant knowledge preferred with two years related experience.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.
The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration.
The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold and risk of electrical shock.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
The employee is frequently required to walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee is occasionally required to sit or smell.
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
The employee must also be able to work 13 hour shifts regularly with occasional extended shifts not to exceed 18 hours.
Mental Activities: While performing duties of this job the employee will frequently engage in teamwork.
The employee will occasionally be required to use interpersonal and customer service skills.
The employee will occasionally need to speak and read English.
