Position Description: General Sales Manager
Reports to: General Manager / General Operations Manager
Position Summary: The General Sales Manager is responsible for profitability in both the new and used vehicle departments and for customer retention.
To achieve this, they must effectively manage sales personnel, have a strong knowledge of the market, and an in-depth understanding of all sales departments' financial data as well as strong customer relation skills.
The General Sales Manager is expected to uphold the highest ethical standards in every aspect of the job.
The General Sales Manager Position has a Pay Scale consisting of the following elements and ranges.
Wages include Base Monthly Salary Compensation of between $6,000.

The position may also pay commission compensation which is based on the value or amount of closed sales achieved from $0.
00 (if no sales are made) without any upper limit other than sales performance.
The position also may also pay a production bonus based on individual or team performance that may range from $0.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Creating the annual dealership sales forecasts by eliminating total vehicle sales, gross and operating profits as well as expenses for the new and used sales departments.
Meeting with vehicle Sales and Finance Managers to plan and implement objectives for achieving sales and gross profits.
Hiring and monitoring the performance of the department managers and salespeople.
Holding weekly sales meetings and conducting sales training.
Facilitate New vehicle pre-delivery with the Service Manager.
Review monthly productivity reports, salespeople’s monthly forecasts and profit performance with the Operations Director by salesperson and as a department.
Establish and maintain standards for displaying, merchandising and maintaining new and used vehicles and lots.
Working directly with the General Manager on making recommendations on both short and long-range advertising plans, sales promotions, staffing needs, lease promotions and compensation plans.
Ensure vehicle salespeople maintain a 100-percent turnover to the Finance & Insurance Manager.
Assist salespeople in closing deals.
Establish standards for appraising used vehicles including requirement to obtain vehicle history report.
Evaluate the condition of demonstrators on a monthly basis.
Attending to customer complaints, ensuring that a high level of customer satisfaction is obtained.
Ensure compliance with information security program and other laws.
Understand and comply with federal, state and local regulations which govern retail auto sales.
Determine new and used inventory levels to be carried based in customer and market analysis.
Complete all training as directed by management.
Follow policies and procedures as set forth in the Company Handbook and other corporate policies.
Must present a professional appearance.
Any other duties as assigned.
