This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill current and any future vacancies within the Tulare County Library.
The anticipated life of the employment list is six months.

Level II: $4,446 - $5,419 Monthly Level III: $4,913 - $5,988 Monthly Typical Duties Librarian II Assist in the planning and direction of a specialized phase of the library program; perform reference work and provide reader’s advisory service; Assist with the creation and management of web pages, blogs, and other types of electronic communication tools; prepare brochures, bookmarks, and other promotional and publicity items; prepare reports and correspondence; promote use of the library through community meetings and the media; give demonstrations and conduct story hours for children; attend and participate in workshops, seminars, conferences and training programs; review library collection to determine whether repair, replacements or additions are needed; catalog and classify library materials; assign materials to branch libraries to meet community needs and interest; assist in planning and preparing exhibits, displays and bulletin boards; evaluate subject fields and select books; assist with hiring, training and evaluating employees; operate computers and other types of automated equipment.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Librarian III duties may include, but are not necessarily limited to: administer a major division of the Library; perform the more difficult professional work in the field to which assigned; plan, direct and review the work of professional Librarians and library staff; assist with preparation of the budget; assist with the selection of new personnel; arrange and conduct training programs in library policy and procedures for staff; prepare performance evaluations; prepare publicity and public relation releases; meet with and speak to public groups; assist in the determination of personnel and physical needs for assigned division; make recommendations on matters of policy related to assigned division; attend meetings and conferences; maintain records and prepare reports; review books and recommend titles for purchase; receive and transmit reference questions requiring further research; conduct reference interviews and assist patrons in locating materials; operate computers and other types of automated equipment.

) Employment Standards EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Education: Librarian II, III Master’s degree in library science or the equivalent from a program accredited by the American Library Association.
Experience: Librarian II One year of experience at a level equivalent to Librarian I with the County of Tulare.
Librarian III Three years of experience at a level equivalent to Librarian II with the County of Tulare.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license.
