Position Information PART-TIME EXPANDED LEARNING RECREATION LEADER: $16.
00/HOUR - $20.
00/HOUR DEFINITION Under the supervision of the Community Services Director or assigned Recreation Coordinator, Expanded Learning Program (ELP) Recreation Leader and Assistant Site Coordinator program staff will provide for the safety and enrichment of students in the Expanded Learning Program.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Expanded Learning Recreation Leader – This is an entry-level position in the Expanded Learning Program.
Expanded Learning Assistant Site Coordinator – This is a higher-level position with some administrative duties in addition to the duties performed by the Recreation Leader.
This position performs the duties of the Site Coordinator when the incumbent is absent.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED Expanded Learning Recreation Leader Exercises no supervision.
Expanded Learning Assistant Site Coordinator May exercise supervision over Expanded Learning Program staff in the absence of the Site Coordinator and while teaching techniques and strategies.
EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES (may include but are not limited to the following) Organize, lead, and conduct recreation and enrichment activities, including arts, crafts, sports, games, cooking, singing, and science.
Create lesson plans for enrichment classes, implement new ideas for class topics, and instruct classes.
Assist students with daily homework.
Maintain discipline on indoor and outdoor play areas to ensure student safety.
Set up and clean up necessary supplies and equipment.
Keep assigned areas clean and free of any and all safety hazards at all times.
Report attendance.
Serve daily snack provided by the program and clean up snack area.
Keep daily records of snack program.
Attend all meetings and trainings.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education: Must have course work equal to 48 college units in child development or related field.
OR Must have a passing certificate for the Paraprofessional Exam.

Lead training exercises and support Expanded Learning Recreation Leaders with required skills through leading by example.

Skill to: Be proficient and knowledgeable in all class grades.
Coach students who are struggling.
Provide support to Expanded Learning Recreation Leaders in all aspects of their job.
