Unique and unusual Geisha type table, with elegant gold colored stainless steel ball base.
Designed to move over deep carpet effortlessly.
Made from a single 2" slab of California Claro Walnut, highly figured, with two live edges.
The single piece of Claro slab walnut is in the distinct shape of a guitar base, originally designed for a wealthy retired musician.
The ball base is reinforced with 1/2 steel rods for weight bearing and attached to the table in a proprietary design that eliminates any visible hardware.
The balls are high quality coated (similar to chrome) stainless steel and are highly polished.
They detach easily for shipping or storage.
Dimensions are: 57" long X 37" wide X 12" floor to top of table height.
This height was selected as an optimum for persons sitting on the floor at the table.
There are no sharp edges to scrape knees, feet and shins.
The piece floats in the room and draws considerable attention.
It is the only one of its kind, unique, beautiful, elegant and features the wonderful California Claro walnut, famed for hardness, dark sensual color, and extensive figuring.
This species was chosen by renowned furniture designer and builder George Nakashima for many of his live edge designs.
He is the only American furniture maker with a permanent exhibit in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.
His book Soul of A Tree features his designs and choice of materials.
Priced and sold as a work of art.
