JOB Under the direction of the Provost or designee and the Manager of Food Services, the Tulare Student Store Assistant will assist with the daily operation of the Tulare Student Store.
The individual will be responsible for food preparation and equipment cleaning; cashiering and cash control; inventory monitoring; providing information to students regarding books and bookstore products; distribution of Basic Needs food pantry items; and providing basic information about COS Tulare and related student support services.
The individual will work cooperatively with Follett Bookstore and other campus support services to ensure continuity of services for students within the Tulare Student Store area.
The incumbent will have excellent customer service to include basic knowledge of COS services in order to direct students and the public.
This position is assigned to the Tulare campus.
The working hours are 8:00 a.
m.
-5:00 p.
m.
Monday-Friday.
Initial placement is at $45,302 annual pay.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Job duties of the Tulare Student Store Assistant include: Daily operation of the Tulare Student Store area to include food services, sales of bookstore supplies, check-out of food pantry items, and distribution of books.
Prepare food items to order and in advance of meal service times, such as salads, sandwiches, soups, beverages, and condiments in accordance with guidelines, rules and regulations.
Grill and fry specific menu items, restock beverage machines.
Operate a cash register, including sales and support of food and student store items, such as pencils, notebooks, paper, Scantrons and swag.
Reconcile cash register and order money with cashier as directed.
Monitor inventory levels, restock and order store supplies and ingredients as needed, and maintain records.
Ensure proper storage and rotation of perishable items to minimize waste.
Receive stock and distribute books and check-out food pantry items.
Collaborate with other departments to meet the culinary needs of the college.
This may involve coordinating special events, catering orders, or collaborating with student organizations.
Prepare food for special events and catered functions as directed.
Clean and maintain food equipment according to established health and sanitation standards; report needed equipment repairs to supervisor.
Clean and sanitize counters and tables.
Operate various washing machines to assure cleanliness and sanitation of pots, pans, utensils, and equipment.
Restock vending machines and basic needs snack stations.
Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, and other members of the college community.
Have basic knowledge of COS services in order to direct student and the public.
Actively seeks opportunities for improvement in student store operations, whether through adopting new technologies, implementing sustainable practices, or staying updated on industry trends and best practices.
Train and provide work direction to student workers.
Perform related duties as assigned.
