Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Assistant Controller will be to plan and direct the accounting processes and internal controls of the company, which includes supervising the accounting staff and delivering timely financial information to meet internal and external requirements.
In addition to regular accountabilities, the Assistant Controller will be expected to utilize critical thinking skills in order to develop and evaluate detailed reports, projections and other analysis to support executive management.
This position will report to the Division Controller.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Manage staff deadlines and close schedules to deliver timely month-end and year-end closes.
Maintain general ledger supporting work papers.
Produce weekly estimates for management team
Analyze general ledger and other business data for accuracy and dependability.
Maintain detailed business process, control and training documentation.
Support all aspects of the company’s budgeting, forecasting and monitoring programs to improve organizational decision-making.
Support cash flow and major project analysis; external audit, tax and compliance requirements; execution of strategic plans to meet company-wide objectives.
Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive business information.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
In depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Ability to develop a team to meet objectives and adapt to growth, innovation and change.
Commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering high quality work; sense of urgency and willingness to be hands on with tasks.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and solid understanding of technology to be more efficient.
Detail-oriented with strong communication and leadership skills.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
6+ years or more of professional experience required.
3+ years or more experience managing personnel required.
Professional certification and/or further education is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
