The successful candidate will possess industry related experience, offer leadership for growing our domestic citrus program (navels, valencias, cara cara, blood oranges, lemons, grapefruit, minneolas and mandarins) while expanding our import citrus program on the West Coast by developing, maintaining, and servicing customer base for our year-round citrus offerings.
Duties/Responsibilities: Manage both high level and day-to-day activities related to the California Citrus category including, but not limited to: grower recruitment & relations, harvest strategy coordination, pricing strategy development, inventory management, packing facility coordination, retail program & relationship development, packing material inventory management, and grower settlement review and retention strategy development.
Develop team to help continue the growth of the California Citrus category.
Work directly with sales team to develop business with new and existing customers.
Maintain and develop relationships and programs with assigned customers for all commodities.
Provide excellent customer service placing customer satisfaction as job number one at all times.
Tracking market trends, competitor information and identifying new opportunities.
Assess market trends to identify new opportunities.
Research data and use intuition as well as experience to provide knowledge-based solutions to customers.
Leverage customer knowledge to identify business opportunities.
Constantly monitor competitive landscape and market conditions to identify opportunities, issues, and risks in order to recommend tactical strategies.
Travel for in person meeting with customer and parts to develop/maintain key relationships.
Manage pricing as well as inventories to maximize return for growers.
Support supply chain efforts to establish and develop seasonal programs for customers.
Sales administration duties including, but not limited to order entry, sending passings and confirming sales in EDI systems, processing rejections and overall follow through of each transaction.
Requirements: Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines while carrying out multiple tasks with attention to detail.
Extensive experience developing and maintaining key retail and wholesale accounts.
Possess high degree of initiative with proactive networking skills and abilities.
Must be flexible, adaptive to change and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness/ability to travel domestically (international if needed).
Reliable transportation.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Knowledge of Famous software preferred.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agricultural Business, Marketing or related field, preferred.
5-7 years of proven citrus sales experience managing and developing solutions with major retail chains.
