Job Description and Duties The DDS State-Operated Stabilization Training Assessment Re-Integration (STAR) homes provide individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities experiencing an acute crisis with person-centered support and crisis stabilization on a time-limited basis to enable them to successfully return home or transition to less restrictive living settings.
The homes strive to empower individuals to be self-reliant as their skills, strengths, perseverance, and abilities allow so they can transition from crisis stabilization services to long-term community living.
STAR currently provides services to adolescents (11-17 years old) and adults (18 years of age and older) who are receiving regional center services.
The STAR homes are 4 to 5 bed homes located in community settings (Vacaville, Springville and Costa Mesa).
The Psychiatric Technician Assistant provides direct care, modeling, coaching, instruction and training on nursing care and behavioral support plans to community direct care staff and consumers following established standards and procedures of the STAR residential and Crisis Assessment Stabilization Team (CAST) mobile crisis services.
PTA provides basic and general behavioral training and psychiatric nursing care to STAR residents.
