Employment Status: Employment is full-time, seasonal for approximately 5 to 6 months, with the possibility of year round offer.
Shift: This position is a morning shift between 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, Monday – Saturday, however hours may be subject to change based on business need.
Compensation: $16.
00 per hour What You’ll Do You’ll be involved in various duties on the canning team that may include: Removing large quantities of plants from their current container, loosening the roots to give them room to grow, and potting them into larger containers while paying close attention to Monrovia’s quality standards.
Utilize quality measuring and monitoring tools.
Ensuring plants are centered in the container, adding additional soil if necessary, and compacting the soil to remove any air pockets.
Ensuring the soil bin is filled as necessary so that the machine can continue to operate continuously.
Ensuring the machine is properly loading containers upright and filling them as necessary with the soil.
Separating containers so that they may easily be accessed by other members of the team.
Moving the finished plants from the conveyor belt to a trailer as necessary.
Driving a tractor with up to three trailers to their designated growing area and unloading them into their proper location on the Nursery.
Ensuring the work area is clean and clear of any tripping or safety hazards.
Who You Are You are able to follow instructions and ask questions for better understanding.
You are open to feedback.
You enjoy working in a team environment and being supportive of co-workers.
You are able to work in inclement weather conditions, i.
e.
hot, cold, and rainy.
You have excellent driving skills and ideally, you’ll have experience driving a tractor, forklift or heavy equipment.
Ideally, you’ll have basic math, reading and writing skills.
You are open to working in an area with moderate noise levels that may be wet and humid with odors or airborne particles.
You are able to lift up to 30 pounds repeatedly or 50+ pounds on occasion.
You have full range of mobility in your upper and lower body, can reach overhead and work in various positions including stooping, standing walking, bending over, and squatting; can lift, pull and push materials, use hands and fingers to feel, handle plants or operate objects, tools or controls; are able to use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus, all with or without a reasonable accommodation.
